Iron Hill Brewery Tasting Flights
Pennsylvania is leading the nation in craft breweries, and our region is an abundant and flourishing beer destination. Our region boasts more than a dozen craft breweries with hundreds of ales, lagers, IPAs, and stouts to try in welcoming spaces for beer lovers to kick back. If you’re in need of something stronger, stop by one of our budding distilleries for a spirit flight or handcrafted cocktail.

Brewery Tasting Guide


Ready for a beer adventure? To make sure you never get thirsty, we’ve put together a brewery tasting guide that includes details on each location’s samplers and flights and the best beers to try at each location. AND our brewery food game is strong! Many of our breweries also prepare incredible made-from-scratch food that pairs perfectly with a pint. We’ve added some munchie recommendations, but feel free to go with your gut when you get there!

Appalachian Brewing Company - Mechanicsburg

  • Tasting: Get a flagship beer flight of 8 samples for $12
  • Gotta Try: The ABC Root Beer Float  
  • Food Pick: Handmade tater tots

Boneshire Brew Works

  • Tasting: Four 5 oz. pours for $10
  • Gotta Try: Green Machine (IPA with Citra and Mosaic Hops) or the Tried and True (Belgian White Ale with Coriander and Orange Peel)
  • ​Food Pick: Boneshire is B-Y-O-F (bring your own food), so you decide!

The Brewery at Hershey

  • Tasting: Choose light beer or heavy beer flight for $10
  • Gotta Try: Their classic Central PA Pale Ale or the loads-of-hops Hip Hop Hooray IPA
  • ​Food Pick: There's a rotating food truck each Friday in the summer for Decked Out Live, or you can bring your own snacks!

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

  • Tasting: Choose four signature or seasonal 4 oz. pours for $8
  • Gotta Try: Their Pig Iron Porter is medal winning English Pub Style brew with roasted malts and hints of chocolate on the nose and palate.
  • Food Pick: Get the Grilled Brewben Sandwich, their take on a Rueben topped with Vienna Red Lager bacon sauerkraut

Millworks

  • Tasting: Get to know four 5 oz. pours for $11
  • Gotta Try: Their PA Preferred draft at the top of the menu, made from 100% Pennsylvanian ingredients
  • Food Pick: Order up a wood-fired pizza with hearty toppings like local, free-range pork or a Pennsylvania mushroom medley

Rotunda Brew Pub

  • Tasting: Four 5 oz. pours for $13.50
  • Gotta Try: Annville IPA, A Pale Ale For Dale or their Mexican-style lager, Cerveza De Guadalupe.
  • Food Pick: Try the Fish & Chips, Carnitas, or House-made Chicken Tenders.

Spring Gate Brewery

  • Tasting: Sample 4 rotating brews for $9
  • Gotta Try: Belgian Blonde Ale, golden in color with a fruity/spicy yeast profile and slightly sweet malt flavor that finishes dry
  • Food Pick: From BBQ and tacos to crab cakes and cupcakes, they invite multiple food trucks each weekend!

Tröegs Independent Brewing

  • Tasting: "You Pick 3" 4 oz. draft pours for $6
  • Gotta Try: The deceptively complex Sunshine Pils. Brewmaster & Co-owner Chris Trogner says, "If I want to get to know a brewery, I try their pilsner."
  • Food Pick: Try the Brie, American, and Cheddar Grilled Cheese or a Hand-Pulled Mozzarella pizza from their new Tasting Loft.

The Vegetable Hunter & Boutique Brewery

  • Tasting: Their beer flights are $9 and include all 4 of their on-tap selections
  • Gotta Try: That's hard to say! They use fresh and interesting ingredients for a try-it-before-it's-gone experience.
  • Food Pick: Choose the tacos or a superfood bowl from their all vegetarian/vegan menu.

Zeroday Brewing Company

  • Tasting: Their flight boards hold up to six, so create your own for $2 - $3 a pour. 
  • Gotta Try: Their adventurous staple Mango Hab or their Dolce Vita Chocolate Hazelnut Sweet Stout (heralded as Nutella® in a glass!)
  • Food Pick: The Outpost at Broad Street Market includes ample food options!

Tröegs Independent Brewing
 

This Hershey brewery is our region’s largest, and Tröegs is known up and down the East Coast for their bold and adventurous beers. In addition to their beloved flagship brews, Tröegs has seasonal releases that make the most of the hop cycle and fresh ingredients to keep fans refreshed all year round. Book a spot on their production tour, ranked as one of the top 5 brewery tours coast to coast by USA Today.

Zeroday Brewing Company
 

Zeroday, a term used by through-hikers to signal a day of relaxation and recovery, is a place where you can kick back with your friends and sample some truly interesting craft beers. From their flagship brews like the spicy/refreshing Mango Hab to limited releases and daily infusions, you’re invited to sip like a local. Sample Zeroday in Midtown Harrisburg at their tap room or their Outpost at Broad Street Market.

 

Breweries & Distilleries in Harrisburg & Hershey

PA breweries make some of the country’s best craft beer, and the Hershey Harrisburg Region is proud to host an impressive cluster of craft brewers. Try a beer flight, grab a snack, then on to the next one! If you can, pack your growler and a cooler; you’ll want to bring home lots of sip-pable souvenirs.

Distilleries

Like our breweries, our region’s distilleries are handcrafting incredible spirits and are on course to occupy a spot in your liquor cabinets. Check out the following spots to find smooth whiskey, bourbon, and specialty spirits. 

Hidden Still Spirits

  • Where: Hershey, PA (Full Restaurant & Distillery)
  • ​Tasting: Flights are 3 for $12 or $15 depending on the selection.
  • ​Gotta Try: The David E. Black Label Bourbon comes highly recommended as a tasting choice.
  • Did You Know: Hidden Still is located at the old Hershey recycling facility. The distillery and restaurant won the Hershey Preservation Award in 2022 for its work in renovating and preserving property to help revitalize the area.

Midstate Distillery

  • Where: Fresh Market at Hershey Towne Square
  • Gotta Try: Their Pennsyltucky Bourbon and Shakey Jake’s Coffee Liqueur come highly recommended. 
  • Midstate Distillery’s spirits are produced (at an expanding facility!) in Harrisburg, with tasting locations at Fresh Market Hershey and Mechanicsburg.
