Start Your Ride

Begin your journey at City Island, dubbed Harrisburg's playground.  City Island offers free parking after 11:00 am unless there is an event.

You'll travel across the historic Walnut Street Bridge and enjoy breathtaking views of the Susquehanna River and the art and culture of Front Street in Harrisburg.  After passing the historic Cameron-Harris mansion, you'll find access points to the Parkway Trail system, a challenging mix of mountain-style terrain, mixed topography, and sights of interest.

The Sights and Sounds of Harrisburg

The Greenbelt stretches along Wildwood Park, a 210-acre wildlife preserve. You'll ride back to Harrisburg alongside the scenic Susquehanna River. This final stretch of the Greenbelt rewards you with sights and sounds that few cities can boast. Before returning to City Island, you'll pass State Street and an incredible view of the Capitol complex. The entire 5-mile riverside section along Harrisburg was set aside as a park during the City Beautiful movement in the early 1900's and remains very popular today.
