‘Tis the season to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Plan your visit around one of these much-loved Harrisburg events where you’ll find fantastic food, exciting entertainment, awe-inspiring art, and plenty of unique things to do.

Virtual Artsfest

  • The Best Part: In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be art to enjoy!

To ensure the safety of the community, vendors, and visitors, Artsfest is going virtual this year. You can support the artisans through an online experience. Additional details to follow, but visit the Facebook event page to participate.

Greenbelt Tour De Belt

  • When: August 16, 2020
  • Time: 9:15 AM
  • Location: Begins at HACC Harrisburg (20-mile ride)

  • The Best Part: The scenery. From the tree-lined parkways to the peaceful lake at Wildwood Park, there’s lots of beautiful green space to pedal through.

Join your fellow cyclists for a refreshing ride along the 20-mile Capital Area Greenbelt, a century-old system of parks and open spaces. All participants receive a t-shirt and lunch.

Riverfront Park Concert Series

  • The Best Part: The venue. Enjoy a panoramic sunset while you rock out at this pop-up concert venue along the Susquehanna.

It started last summer with Death Cab for Cutie. This summer, Harrisburg University is expanding its concert series along Riverfront Park.. The lineup consists of some of Indie/Al-Rock’s hottest acts: Cage The Elephant (June 18), and Steve Aoki (June 26).


Independence Day Celebration & Food Truck Festival

  • When: July 4, 2020
  • Time: 12 PM – 9 PM
  • Location: Riverfront Park

  • The Best Part: The food. We’re talking 50+ food trucks with a variety of different eats.

Say “Happy Birthday, America” at this Riverfront block party, starring a seemingly endless line of food trucks and an impressive fireworks display over the Susquehanna. In addition to the eats, festival-goers can enjoy live music, a wine garden, and free things to do for kids, including face painting and patriotic crafts! Find a sweet spot to enjoy the largest fireworks display in Central PA, shooting off at 9:15 PM.

Antique Fire Apparatus Show & Muster

  • When: July 11, 2020

  • The Best Part: The Mass Pumping into the Susquehanna is a sight to behold.

You might be wondering why a firetruck show is one of the city’s top events, but hundreds of families come out to enjoy these vintage vehicles. More than 100 pieces of antique apparatus will be on display or participate in activities. Attendees can also shop flea market tents and enjoy fire-related contests and games.

  • The Best Part: The beer, of course. There’ll be more than 60 craft brews to try.

Craft beer lovers look forward to this beer celebration every year. You’ll find a beer for every palate, with selections ranging from sours and stouts to hazy IPAs and crisp pilsners. Set on the front lawn of the historic Fort Hunter Mansion overlooking the Susquehanna River, it’s a perfect place to pack a picnic and enjoy refreshing adult beverages. Rounding out the party are food trucks, live music, and local vendors. Get your tickets early because this event often sells out!

Cultural Fest

  • Location: Market Street in Downtown Harrisburg

  • The Best Part: The diversity, from ethnic foods and crafts to musical performances.

Harrisburg locals and visitors come together to celebrate our differences at this free block party in Downtown Harrisburg. Enjoy a summer evening filled with music, food, and vendors. There will be a variety of games and activities for the kiddos, too.

Kipona Labor Day Weekend Celebration

  • When: September 5-7, 2020
  • Time: 11 AM
  • Location: Front Street, Riverfront Park & City Island

  • The Best Part: The whole thing. This festival has it all – food, fun, fireworks, crab cake eating contests, and unique Native American celebrations.

Give summer the sendoff it deserves with a weekend-long riverfront celebration with 30 food vendors, two live music stages, an artist market, family fun zone, biergarten, carnival games, and more. The party extends onto City Island for a Native American Pow-Wow and into the Susquehanna River for canoe and kayak races.

Jazz & Wine Festival

  • When: September 11-13, 2020
  • Time: Varies
  • Location: Fort Hunter Park

  • The Best Part: It’s a tie between the smooth jazz musicians and the handcrafted PA wine samples.

Fort Hunter Park plays host every year to this much-loved festival where attendees soak up the sweet sounds of jazz while sipping on flavorful samples from some of the region’s best wineries. Bring your lawn chairs, pack a picnic, and purchase a bottle of wine to share while national, regional, and local jazz musicians take the stage.
