How to Play

It’s free to participate in the Beer Trail. Here’s how to get started:

  • Download the Brew Barons Beer Trail app.
  • Create a profile with your email and zip code and verify that you are 21 years or older.

    

Now that you’ve downloaded the Brew Barons app, it's time to start visiting brewery locations! 

  • Tap on the Brew Barons landing screen to see a list of Tours Stops. 
  • Scroll to your location and tap the listing. 
  • Click “Check In.” The app uses GPS to validate your location.
  • The app will automatically keep track of your check-ins.

With each check-in, you’ll accumulate points that can be redeemed for a variety of prizes.  

FAQs

How long does the Beer Trail last?

The beer trail resets annually. The current edition runs through 12/31/2026.  

What if my phone doesn’t detect my location?

No problem!  If your device is not getting good reception, clicking “check in” will save your GPS location and upload the next time you open the app when connected to the internet. If you receive errors or your phone’s GPS is not registering, send a photo as proof of check-in to brewbarons@hersheyharrisburg.org using the email you use to log into the app.  E-mail-verified check ins can take up to 48 hours to apply to your passport.   

Is there a paper passport?

No. The Brew Barons Beer Trail is all-digital using the app. Go green!

How do I redeem prizes?  

Each check-in is worth points that are automatically tracked in the app. Once you’ve reached the points needed for your preferred prize, follow the prompts in the Prize Market. *Prize options may change periodically pending new arrivals and availability.  

Can I redeem more than one prize at a time? 

Yes. If you have enough points for more than one prize, make your selections and follow the prompts.  

Can I redeem more than once? 

Yes. If you redeem a prize and then earn more points, you can redeem more prizes as you go.  

Can I pick up prizes in person? 

Not at this time. All prizes are shipped to the address you provide when you select your prize from the Prize Market.  

Is there transportation available? 

Yes. Ride share services like Uber and Lyft operate in the area.  

Can I bring a group? 

Yes! The Brew Barons Beer Trail is a great way to celebrate with friends (Bachelor parties, girls’ weekends, etc.), and each person in the group who is 21 and over can participate on their own passport. To ensure the best experience, especially for groups of 20 or more, we recommend you contact the locations to confirm seating capacity. 

Can I bring my children to participating locations? 

Although most locations on our Beer Trail welcome visitors of all ages, it is always a good idea to check the location’s website or phone ahead before you arrive. 

Does the brewery list change?  

Yes. Breweries may be added or removed pending operating circumstances. The app will reflect the current participants.  

When are the breweries open?   

Operating hours vary. We encourage guests to verify operating hours through the brewery or tasting location’s website prior to your visit.

Must be 21 years and older to participate. No purchase necessary. One person per passport. You must be on-site to check in at each location. Rules subject to change. Valid while supplies last. Apple is not a sponsor to the app or the passport prize giveaways.
