Fourth of July Activities in Hershey and Harrisburg

If you’re planning a Fourth of July weekend, Dauphin County has some of the best places to celebrate. In 2026, America’s 250th birthday is bringing extra energy to the region, with food trucks, baseball, live music, family activities, patriotic programs, theme park fun, and fireworks at select events. We rounded up five local options for family fun, memory-making, and celebrating Independence Day in the Hershey Harrisburg Region!

1. Spend the Day at Harrisburg’s July 4th Food Truck Festival

When: Saturday, July 4, 2026, 1–9 PM; fireworks around 9:15 PM
Where: Riverfront Park and City Island area, Harrisburg, PA

For one of the biggest community celebrations in Harrisburg, head to Riverfront Park for the July 4th Food Truck Festival. The city’s 2026 event is planned from 1–9 PM with 40 food trucks, live music, a wine and beer garden, free kids’ activities, and one of Central Pennsylvania’s largest fireworks displays beginning around 9:15 PM.

Come hungry and sample your way through the food truck lineup, then settle into a spot along the Susquehanna River before dusk if you plan to stay for fireworks. This is a great fit for food lovers and groups with different interests because visitors can mix food, music, family activities, and skyline views without needing a separate ticketed attraction.

Parking and crowd tip: Harrisburg offers free metered street parking for the holiday, paid parking on City Island, and discounted parking at Market Square Garage during the event window. Expect the riverfront to get crowded as fireworks time approaches, so choose a meeting spot in advance and consider arriving earlier in the afternoon if you want prime river views.

FNB Field

2. Celebrate with Baseball and Fireworks at FNB Field

When: Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4
Where: FNB Field, 245 Championship Way, Harrisburg, PA

For a classic summer holiday outing, pair America’s pastime with an Independence Day fireworks show. The Harrisburg Senators are scheduled for Independence Day weekend home games at FNB Field on City Island, including a Saturday, July 4 game set for 7 PM and a postgame fireworks show planned as part of the America 250 celebration. This is a strong pick for sports fans and families who want a built-in evening activity: baseball, concessions, theme-night energy, and riverfront views all in one stop.

If this is where you want to be for evening fireworks, make a whole day of it. Arrive early to explore City Island before first pitch, walk along the river, take photos with the Harrisburg skyline, or pair the game with downtown dining before heading into the stadium.

Parking and crowd tip: City Island parking is limited and not guaranteed, so plan to arrive early or park downtown and walk across the Walnut Street Walking Bridge. FNB Field parking is typically paid, and downtown garage or street parking may be easier for anyone who wants to avoid postgame congestion on the island.

3. Make It a Full Park Day at Hersheypark

When: Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4; fireworks at 10:15 PM
Where: Hersheypark, 100 W Hersheypark Dr, Hershey, PA

Hersheypark is celebrating America’s 250th with patriotic summer programming and multiple fireworks displays presented by HERSHEY’S, including shows on July 3 and July 4 at 10:15 PM.

This is the best choice for a full-day excursion! Plan for a full park day and build in breaks leading up to the end-of-day fireworks. Ride earlier, cool off at The Boardwalk, catch a live show in the afternoon, then choose a fireworks viewing spot well before 10:15 PM. If you’re visiting with kids, consider prioritizing must-do rides before dinner so the evening can be focused on snacks, photos, and the fireworks finale.

Parking and crowd tip: Buy parking or admission in advance when possible and build extra time into your arrival and exit. Be sure to choose a fireworks viewing spot with your route back to the car in mind—and expect heavy traffic as large crowds leave at the same time.

Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra

4. Enjoy a Free Patriotic Concert with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra

When: Saturday, July 4, 7:30–9 PM
Where: Reservoir Park, 100 Concert Dr., Harrisburg, PA

The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra is bringing a free outdoor concert to Reservoir Park for America’s 250th anniversary! Created and directed by Tony Award-winning Music Director Stuart Malina and performed by the orchestra’s professional musicians, the concert is planned as a tribute to American music and the nation’s history. This is a great event for anyone looking for a meaningful, music-filled evening to celebrate Independence Day!

Parking and crowd tip: Admission is free, so plan to arrive early with chairs or blankets if permitted and give yourself extra time to park near Reservoir Park.

Greater Harrisburg Concert Band

5. Celebrate Dauphin250 with a Free Concert at Fort Hunter Park

When: Friday, July 3, 7–8:30 PM
Where: Fort Hunter Park, 5300 N Front St, Harrisburg, PA

For another free way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, head to Fort Hunter Park for the Dauphin250 Celebration with the Greater Harrisburg Area Concert Band: E Pluribus Unum. This Friday evening concert, part of Dauphin County Parks & Recreation’s Sunset Music & Movie Series, will offer live music and family fun along the Susquehanna River.

Pack blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic, or plan to indulge in a meal from the Gio's Smokin' Grill & Sweet Treats food truck. Guests can also arrive early for a free Ice Cream Social with Urban Churn at 6 PM (complete with cupcakes to celebrate America’s 250th birthday) before the concert begins at 7 PM.

Parking and crowd tip: Admission is free, but arrive early if you want to grab a good lawn spot before the concert.

The 2026 Fourth of July weekend is shaping up to be a memorable one across the Hershey Harrisburg Region. No matter your vibe, there are plenty of ways to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in Central PA and enjoy a red, white, and blue holiday weekend!
