7 foot 1 inch tall native of Philadelphia Wilt Chamberlain joined the NBA in 1959, playing for the Philadelphia Warriors. Owing to his immense size, athleticism, and speed, he immediately began breaking scoring and rebounding records. During his third season with the Warriors in a game against the New York Knicks played at Hersheypark Arena, Chamberlain scored 100 points, setting the NBA’s single game scoring record. During the game, for which no video footage exists, Chamberlain set 5 additional records. Though he set numerous records during his storied NBA career, Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 point record (which still stands today) is considered nearly unbeatable and remains one of his greatest achievements.
