3ICE, a new three-on-three professional ice hockey league in North America, is coming to GIANT Center on Saturday, July 9, 2022.
3ICE was founded by E.J. Johnston, a former Fox Sports, IMG and Getty Images executive and son of former professional player, coach and general manager, Ed Johnston. The league is uniquely designed to give hockey fans the speed, skill and excitement they have grown to love since the three-on-three overtime concept was introduced in 2015.
All six 3ICE teams will travel to each tour stop and compete in a tournament where each game will consist of two eight-minute periods using a running clock on a full-sized rink. Each team has seven players (including one goalie) and competes in a nine-week season that will feature six games each night. The bracket-style single-elimination format will include three first-round games, two semifinal matchups, followed by a title game. Host cities include Denver, Grand Rapids, Hershey, Las Vegas, Nashville, Pittsburgh, as well as Canadian cities London, Ontario and Québec City.
“We are pumped that our inaugural season is quickly approaching and cannot wait to welcome fans for a hockey experience like no other,” said 3ICE’s Founder & CEO, E.J. Johnston. “In addition to the high-paced action, we have some exciting, engaging experiences planned, and we look forward to creating an incredible atmosphere for our fans.
