Goodbye winter. Hello spring!  We’re trading snowflakes for sunshine and leaving behind blizzards for blooms! From sprawling gardens to winding bike paths and from towering coaster hills to chocolate treats, we have all the spring activities you need for a refreshing weekend getaway!

Hershey Gardens

Enjoy blooms and butterflies aplenty at the historic Hershey Gardens, situated on a hill overlooking the town of Hershey. Wander around the themed gardens, including a fragrant herb garden and peaceful Japanese Garden. Explore the whimsical Children’s Garden, with hideaways, letter bricks, and a Hoop House where kids can learn about sustainable gardening. Indoors, the tropical Butterfly Atrium houses hundreds of winged wonders who aren’t shy about landing on your shoulder!

Trade your winter blues for picturesque pops of pink, purple, orange, and green that come to life each spring around the lakes, hills, forests, and parks in our region. The Hershey Harrisburg Adventure Trail offers a variety of outdoor activities and interactive attractions to get everyone moving.

Warm up on a nature walk around Wildwood Park, a scenic green oasis within the city of Harrisburg. Hike our trails, including a portion of the famous Appalachian Trail, just 20 minutes north of Harrisburg. Pedal around Harrisburg on the Capital Area Greenbelt, a 22-mile urban bike path filled with panoramic city views. Take your adventure underground with a guided walking tour of Indian Echo Caverns, a natural geologic wonder right in our backyard.

Hersheypark®

Soar into spring with fast-paced thrill rides on Comet and Candymonium! Chill out with the sweetest refreshments or take in family-friendly entertainment at Hersheypark®. The park opens April 1, and will be open every weekend in April and May before kicking off its daily summer season hours over Memorial Day weekend. Speaking of summer, Wildcat's Revenge will open this summer as the park's first hybrid coaster and feature the world's largest underflip! Who's ready to ride?

Want to “spring” for an island getaway? We're actually referring to a few hours on City Island in Harrisburg, a budget-friendly family excursion featuring minor league baseball, mini-golf, and boat rides. Putt around the beautifully landscaped course at Water Golf, a fun, yet challenging activity for every skill level. In true spring fashion, sometimes we see rain showers instead of blue skies. Luckily we have plenty of indoor activities to fill a rainy day with fun. Learn how HERSHEY’S makes its famous chocolate, then create some yourself, at Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction. Browse a pristine collection of vintage automobiles, buses, and motorcycles at the Smithsonian-affiliated AACA Museum, Inc. Take a free, guided tour of the Pennsylvania State Capitol building, filled with history and art. Check out interactive STEM-inspired activities at Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.
