Local tourism bureau presented new award in memorial of a friend in tourism lost this year.

Harrisburg, PA – Leaders of the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHR) presented two women with a new “Partner In Tourism – Heart & Soul Award” created in honor of Julie Sullivan (48), a friend of the bureau and local tourism advocate who passed away on August 2, 2012 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

HHRVB president Mary Smith and the bureau’s director of sales Sharon Altland presented the awards to CyndiLou Foster, Director of Sales and Marketing for Springhill Suites Hershey Near the Park; and Tara Betz, General Manager at Comfort Inn Riverfront during the bureau’s Annual Partner Breakfast held at The Hotel Hershey on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

According to opening remarks by Smith, the “Partner In Tourism – Heart & Soul Award” will forevermore recognize an individual bureau partner who selflessly dedicates their heart and soul to family, community, and peers, just as Sullivan did in her life.

“This award will recognize those within our region who generously volunteer their time, talent and energy, well beyond their occupation or profession, to serve community programs, charitable causes, or volunteer organizations,” Smith said. “This person demonstrates a tireless enthusiasm for life through her work, charitable contributions, and volunteerism – and this award truly embodies the spirit of how our friend Julie Sullivan lived her life.”
