Harrisburg, PA (Oct 31, 2016) — Southern Airways Express, an intra-state commuter line with a hub at the Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), today began their new daily air service to Harrisburg, PA (MDT), marking the first daily non-stop flights between the state capital and the major Mid-Atlantic hub since US Airways cancelled the route in 2008. There will be three daily flights connecting the two cities and one daily flight on Saturdays & Sundays.

Tickets are on sale at the airline’s web site, www.iFlySouthern.com, as well as major online travel sites. All fares will be $99 each way for the remainder of 2016.

The addition of service to Harrisburg followed Southern Airways Express acquiring Sun Air Express in February 2016 which had pre-existing service to five communities in Pennsylvania including Pittsburgh, Franklin, Bradford, Altoona and Lancaster.

According to the airline's web site, today's introduction of the Harrisburg service will be followed in November 2016 with additional service launching in Pennsylvania for Johnstown and DuBois.

The airline also services communities in the Mid-Atlantic Region including Hagerstown, MD and Jamestown, NY with additional services launching in November for Morgantown, WV. After November 2016, the airline will be able to connect passengers to Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD according to the route map below. (www.iFlySouthern.com)

Earlier this year when the route was first announced, Southern Airways Chairman and CEO Stan Little said they want the Pittsburgh to Harrisburg service to become one of their signature routes for the entire region. According to Little, the airline will now serve more cities in Pennsylvania than any other airline.

In today's announcement the airline's chief marketing officer Keith Sisson said that Pittsburgh was the largest city in America without a non-stop flight to its state capital. Sission went on to say that the airline was proud to be the ones to remedy that situation with the inaugural flight of their new service between the two cities today.
