Hershey among Best Cities in Pennsylvania for Young Families 2013

The consumer advocacy Web site NerdWallet.com announced the town of Hershey, PA was among the top cities in PA according to their recent study of 90 cities comparing school ratings, median home value, cost of homeownership, median income, and economic growth.

Harrisburg, PA – This November NerdWallet.com, a consumer advocacy Web site, announced the town of Hershey was in the top ten best towns in Pennsylvania for young families. The findings came from a recent study the site conducted of 90 cities in PA to find the best places for future parents and young families to locate.

Nerd Wallet analyzed data from according to five criteria:

  1. Public school ratings
  2. Median home value
  3. Cost of homeownership
  4. Median income
  5. Economic growth

NerdWallet ranked Hershey eighth after assessing the town’s cost of living, education system, and economic growth. The town’s school district received an excellent nine-out-of-ten rating from the nonprofit, GreatSchools.

“Located about 15 miles from Harrisburg, Hershey is known as the Sweetest Place on Earth because the world-famous chocolates of the town’s name are made here,” said NerdWallet analyst Mike Anderson. “However, the town is not just a popular landmark. It offers a strong school district that is held in high regard throughout the state.”
