Live Music

Pop quiz. When you think of Hershey, PA, what comes to mind? Chocolate and Hersheypark? Yep. We have those. What about Harrisburg? Politics and the Capitol? Busted. But what's really, really cool about these towns is that there's so much more than their "main attractions." And while the region doesn't have the size of a destination like Philadelphia or Baltimore, we most definitely have the sound.

We asked Harrisburg-area nightlife insider Sara Bozich to share her Top 5 Music Venues in the region for a piece in the Visit Hershey Harrisburg 2016 Travel Guide. Sara's done her homework for more than 10 years and knows a great place to kick back with some tunes when she sees - or should we say - hears one. Grab a date. Grab some friends. Grab a ticket and join us for some live music!

The Millworks

Home to more than 30 in-house artists - and an outstanding restaurant - The Millworks continues its commitment to improving the City of Harrisburg with an incredible lineup of up-and-coming artists performing free shows in the heart of Midtown.

Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center - Stage on Herr

The recent hire of Lisa White, longtime talent buyer for Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club, has already proven a win with big name bands playing Stage on Herr at H*MAC. The newly-renovated Capital Room has an audience capacity of 800 to listen to live music under its vaulted ceilings. Truly a unique space.*

Hersheypark Stadium

Bringing in big-name acts from Maroon 5 to Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake, Hersheypark Stadium is the place you'll want to be come summer when when the ticket bill boasts headliners like Beyonce* and Paul McCartney*.

Suba Tapas Bar

Seating is at a premium at this cozy, second-floor tapas bar, where every Friday and Saturday night you can catch incredible talents from local blues professionals to a passing-through Brazilian drummer, each making for an irreplaceable evening of music, great drinks and food, all in the shadow of the state's capitol.

The Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company

The Abbey Bar is one of the largest concert venues in downtown Harrisburg, and this unique space - housed in the second floor of Appalachian Brewing Company - is getting its groove back. Local and national touring acts have played here, from J. Roddy Waltson and the Business to Rusted Root and from Mike Doughty to the Lumineers.
