The Hershey Story explores the rags to riches accomplishments of an American entrepreneur who used his personal wealth to enrich the lives of others. Hear never-before-shared stories of his innovation and determination. Find out how Mr. Hershey revolutionized the process of making milk chocolate. Discover how the Hershey Industrial School’s orphan boys became heirs to his fortune.
Museum Day Live! tickets are good for free admission to the Museum Experience and the special exhibit gallery. Admission fees apply to the Chocolate Lab and Tastings: Chocolate From Around the World.
"Chocolate Workers Wanted" is currently on exhibit in our changing exhibit gallery.
What ingredients helped the world’s largest chocolate factory to succeed? Fresh milk, cocoa beans and workers! The Hershey Story’s special exhibit explores life in Mr. Hershey’s chocolate factory from 1905 through 1925.
As “new hires,” guests will try different jobs throughout the factory. Be sure to not burn the cocoa beans in the roasting department! Push Hershey’s famed bathtub trucks in the refining area. In the “knock-out” area, you’ll remove bars from molds without damaging the chocolate. Weigh boxes of Kisses, pack bars into boxes and fill customer orders in the finishing department. Once training is complete, guests will receive their final job assignments
Along the way, learn how Hershey’s chocolate is made from bean to bar, how men’s and women’s jobs were different, and how much workers were paid.
