CAPITAL AREA SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS:
Capital Area School for the Arts Charter School (CASA) is high school that uses innovative and vibrant curricula that will engage students in learning and enhance their creative talents to determine a career path and future role in society. CASA Charter School offers high quality, standards-based academics and arts classes. CASA Charter School is a model of innovative and vibrant curricula that will engage students in learning and enhance their creative talents to determine a career path and future role in society. CASA Charter School uses the city of Harrisburg and the capital area as a “classroom” for architectural, governmental, and community resources for imaginative students to create great art and music. CASA inspires an atmosphere where the region’s most talented students can thrive. Students have the opportunity to work in their accepted art area for over two hours every day. Students will graduate from CASA Charter School having mastered skills that will enable them to be productive, self-directed, lifelong learners, who appreciate and respect diversity.
For more than 30 years, Jump Street has been working to connect artists to the community through innovative programming dedicated to generating educational, social, and economic development. As an Arts in Education Partner of the PA Council on the Arts, Jump Street works to place teaching artists (of all disciplines) into classrooms to enhance the learning experience by integrating the arts into the teacher’s core curriculum. This interdisciplinary approach keeps the arts alive in schools, and helps develop creative thinking and problem solving in students. Money from the art auction will help to underwrite the cost of teaching artists in local, underperforming districts.
SPROCKET MURAL WORKS:
Sprocket Mural Works is a citywide mural project that works with neighborhoods, artists, organizations and governmental agencies to create vibrant community murals across Harrisburg, and tell the stories of our rich mural history. The mission of Sprocket Mural Works is to increase community pride and civic engagement in Harrisburg through united creative action. Since 2014, Sprocket Mural Works has helped paint more than ten murals and community art pieces around the region. Money raised through the art auction will help fund a Harrisburg mural to be painted in 2016.
Live music will begin the event at 5:00pm and will follow the auction at 7:00pm
