Couples Getaway

“…and they walked hand in hand through the vineyard as the summer sun slowly dropped out of the sky.” If the "romance novel" is a little over the top for you, don't worry! The wineries of Hershey Harrisburg Wine Country have story lines for the rockin’ couples too. Wineries that sprawl across the central Pennsylvania countryside are night destinations complete with good wine, good vibes and an impressive variety of top live, local entertainment.

After you’ve spent some time in the “country,” change speed a bit for a night on the town. The restaurant scene in Harrisburg has gone through a huge transformation as business owners renovate and open new, inspiring spaces on trends of small plates, farm to table and an open, bright atmosphere.

Rubicon Restaurant in HarrisburgThe lights of the massive PA State Capitol dome cast a soft glow over sidewalk tables at Rubicon, one of downtown Harrisburg’s newest dining hot spots. The bar-centric restaurant is a nice compliment to its “sister restaurants” of Mangia Qui and Suba located just next door. The Hilton Harrisburg keeps it in the family as well, with two brand new restaurants (Contemporary American at Ad Lib Craft Kitchen & Bar and out-of-this-world steaks at 1700 Degrees Steakhouse) that blend together on the hotel’s ground floor.

You’ve eaten. You’ve sipped and sampled. Now it’s time to play! The local waterways are summertime playgrounds perfect for adventures on kayaks, canoes or paddle boards. Check in with the outfitters listed below to get started.

Don’t leave without a souvenir! Not the cheesy touristy kind – the super unique “look what I found at this really cool local shop” kind.  Visit Stash Collective’s new vintage shop on Walnut Street, or pour over antiques at Historic Acres at Hershey. For some serious “wow” factor, step into the Jeweler at the Hotel Hershey to browse the gorgeous collection of Chocolate Diamonds.

Speaking of “wow,” that sounds like a lot to fit into one weekend!  That’s ok, you’ve got an open invitation to add a day, or better yet – come back and see us again. We’ll keep the table set, the wine chilled, the sheets turned down and the entertainment on standby just for you!
