Hiking, biking, and racing is an active and adventurous way to experience the Hershey Harrisburg Region this fall! The scenery along the way is gorgeous and you won’t want to be leaf peeping anywhere else. After a day of adventure, float along the river on the Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat, with the crisp autumn air on your face and photo-worthy foliage all around you.
You can’t experience autumn indoors, so get outside! Revel in the beauty of the season with a stroll through Wildwood Park or along the Susquehanna River at Riverfront Park. The short (but challenging) 30-minute trek to the top of Hawk Rock lets you enjoy the brilliant foliage along the way before overlooking the sweeping views of the Susquehanna. This spot is located on the famous Appalachian Trail, so ambitious hikers can hop on the AT for a longer, scenic tour of what Pennsylvania has to offer.
Grab your helmet and pedal your way through Harrisburg and Hershey’s finest stretches. Take a ride on the Capital Area Greenbelt, a 20-mile trail through Harrisburg or discover a local hidden gem in Newport - Little Buffalo State Park. If you’re in Hershey, check out the Jonathan Eshenour Memorial Trail, a beautiful 13-mile rail trail. Be sure to brake along the route to snap a photo of the picturesque PA setting.
Race your way through our region as a participant in the Harrisburg Marathon (a qualifier for the Boston Marathon) and the Hershey Half Marathon. Runners from all around delight in the vibrant fall foliage and beautiful towns they pass through on their way to the finish line. After the race, celebrate with your fans by grabbing a seasonal craft beer, handful of chocolate, and mouthwatering farm-to-table meal. We appreciate that you ran the miles to get here!
