For nine days in April, it's all about the brew. The region's craft brewing community comes together to toast the 2nd Annual Harrisburg Beer Week April 22-30. Craft brewing in the Hershey Harrisburg Region has long had a name for itself on the strength and success of Troegs Brewing Company and Appalachian Brewing Company (ABC). But in recent years a new generation of craft brewing has exploded onto the scene, creating a vibrant (and flavorful) landscape for craft beer lovers to explore. The week is filled with scores of events from happy hours to seminars.
One of the coolest things about the craft beer community is the sense of family and support among its brewers. For the second year in a row, Appalachian Brewing Co., Troegs Independent Brewing Co. and Pizza Boy Brewing Co will present the 717 Collaborative Ale. The inaugural 2015 version was a hit, and we're sure craft beer lovers will be scrambling for this year's installment as well.
Along with the new events created for Beer Week, an old favorite returns as well. 40 Pennsylvania Breweries. 20 PA Preferred food producers. 20 PA Preferred restaurants. One ticket gives you access to the entire slate of tastings and food pairings during PA Flavor at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center set for Saturday, April 23.
Anytime is a good time to visit us and relax with good friends and a good brew. But if you love craft beer, Harrisburg Beer Week will have that extra "buzz" of excitement plus the educational spotlight that really add to the trip. And it's all for a great cause. Harrisburg Beer Week benefits Harrisburg River Rescue. (In 2015, HBG Beer Week awarded the non-profit $20,000. Beer = Philanthropy!)
Here's a sampling of some of the local breweries participating in Harrisburg Beer Week, along with many other regional brewers.
Please enjoy Harrisburg Beer Week responsibly!
