Memorial Day Weekend 2016 will mark the 7th time Youth Step USA has held their National Championship in the Hershey Harrisburg Region.
HARRISBURG, PA (May 24, 2016) – For the seventh consecutive year, Youth Step USA will host its annual stepping tournament in Dauphin County on Memorial Day weekend. The best middle and high school step teams from across the nation -- Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, Virginia, Texas and Florida -- will showcase their talent and compete for the title of 2016 Youth Step USA National Champions.
“This event will not only entertain local residents, but also promises to attract a significant number of participants and supporters from outside of the region, which is great for local hotels, restaurants and attractions,” said Dauphin County Board of Commissioners’ Chairman Jeff Haste.
The National Middle School Step Championship will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 27. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
High school teams will compete for the national title at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. Doors will open at 4 p.m.
Both competitions will be held at Harrisburg High School, 2451 Market Street, in Harrisburg.
“We’re proud to host Youth Step USA’s national championship again this year and welcome the participants and their families to the region,” said Dauphin County Commissioner Mike Pries.
The following prizes will be offered to the top four male and female teams:
- $4,000 for first place
- $2,000 for second place
- $1,000 for third place
- $500 for fourth place
