Wrestling Returns to the Historic Hersheypark Arena This Weekend

The Duals @ Hershey Tournament Benefits Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Central PA

Harrisburg, PA. (2010) – The Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB) and the Dauphin County Commissioners Office today announced they are proud sponsors of The Duals @ Hershey, a college wrestling tournament being held this weekend at the historic Hersheypark Arena to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Central Pennsylvania. Tickets are $12 for the charitable event this Saturday from 9 am – 6:30 pm.

This first annual invitational tournament is being produced by Wrestle for a Cure, Inc. (W4AC), a non-profit organization founded in 2009 to promote the advancement of charitable giving through the sport of wrestling. The Delaware-based charitable organization produces Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling tournaments and events for the benefit of charity.

There will be 16 teams (13 colleges & 3 high schools) wrestling on four mats and each team will wrestle three (3) times with a two-hour break between matches. There will be six (6) rounds taking place at 9am, 10:30am, Noon, 1:30pm, 3pm and 4:30pm. Teams will either wrestle in the first block at (9am, Noon and 3pm) or in the second block at (10:30am, 1:30pm and 4:30pm.)

Division I: Drexel, Edinboro, George Mason, Kent State, Lock Haven University, The Citadel, University of North Carolina, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech;

Division II & III: Johns Hopkins, Shippensburg, Waynesburg, York College of PA;

High School Division: Keystone Brawlers, Team Diesel, Wayne Danger

Organizers noted that anyone attending the event this weekend can receive a special $89 per night rate at the official event hotel, the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East, located at 751 Lindle Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111. That rate for a room with two queen beds will apply to anyone contacting the hotel to book rooms for The Duals @ Hershey Wrestling Event.
