Tourism Officials Use National Feature Article to Launch New Branding Campaign for Harrisburg
Harrisburg, PA (Oct. 30, 2009) – Harrisburg Mayor Stephen R. Reed and representatives from USAirways Magazine and the Hershey-Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB) today unveiled the November issue of USAirways Magazine, which features a nine-page business outlook on Pennsylvania’s Capital City of Harrisburg as part of the magazine’s business series.
The article includes a two-page promotional spread that officially launches Harrisburg’s new “Ya Gotta Love The ‘Burg” branding campaign, a joint effort between the HHRVB and the city of Harrisburg to encourage visitors to experience Harrisburg’s restaurants, clubs, cultural, and sports-related events.
The article analyzes how Harrisburg has transformed itself from, in the words of the profile itself, “near-bankruptcy into one of the nation’s most valuable hubs for business, culture and higher education in the last quarter-century.” The profile focuses on important components including the city’s location, economic development and housing initiatives, educational advancements, and tourism-related amenities that contributed to Forbes.com calling it one of “America’s Most Livable Cities” in 2009.
Publishers of USAirways’ in-flight magazine said they selected Harrisburg because of the common misconceptions associated with the region.
“The reality of economic development initiatives and the diversity of the current key industrial and commercial sectors are far more interesting than the perception,” said Carsten Morgan, Director of Special Projects for USAirways Magazine. “This is an untold story that truly will enlighten the 5.2 million passengers that fly with us each month.”
According to HHRVB President, Mary Smith, the “Ya Gotta Love The ‘Burg” campaign will also target local, regional, and national markets in a comprehensive effort to promote the many benefits of living and playing in Harrisburg.
