Mecum 2016 again makes list of TOP 5 EVENTS for overall attendance and economic impact according to annual listing of client events for the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau.
Harrisburg, PA (July 15, 2016) – Mecum Auctions announced this week that their 3rd annual auction returning to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center (FSC) in Harrisburg from July 21-23 will include 1,000 cars.
Mecum is considered the world’s largest collector car auction company specializing in collector cars, vintage and antique motorcycle, and Road Art sales. Each year Mecum hosts their unique high-energy brand of auctions throughout the United States.
In 2014 the company added Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in an effort to expand the Wisconsin-based company’s presence on the East Coast. That first year’s event captured the attention of collector car enthusiasts from throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England area with consignments from 32 states, a 70-percent sell-through rate, and more than $20 million in total sales, according to Mecum officials. The event also broke Mecum records for attendance at a first-time show location.
The Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB), which issues an annual report of the destination marketing organization’s TOP 20 Clients for the year including Events, Meetings/Conventions, and Sports, ranked Mecum 2016 third (#3) for overall Economic Impact and fifth (#5) for Attendance. Among the bureau clients categorized specifically as “Events” the three-day Mecum show ranked second with an economic impact of $8.3 million, trailing only the annual nine-day Great American Outdoor Show in February that generates $75 million, according to the bureau’s report.
This year’s Mecum Harrisburg show will again feature a broad selection of American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, hot rods, Resto Mods and more. Highlighting this year’s consignment is a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot S124) that featured a KK no. 2161, 429/375 HP 820-T V8 engine with a four-speed transmission. Other feature consignments include a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe (Lot S111), that is one of just 2,610 with the fuel injected L84 327/360 HP engine and had a frame-off restoration to correct specs including its Riverside Red exterior; and a 1960 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible (Lot F172), that features 294 CI re-built engine and four-corner air-ride suspension.
The Harrisburg auction is open to sellers, buyers, and spectators. Persons interested in viewing the list of consigned vehicles or wanting to consign a vehicle to be auctioned at the Mecum Harrisburg show should visit Mecum.com or call (262) 275-5050 for complete details about the consignment process and pricing.
